Is Email Marketing Worth the Time and Effort?
Email marketing could be the perfect solution for small business owners looking to market their business on a budget. If you look at some of the most successful internet marketers out there today you will find that they rely on email marketing for a majority of their sales.
Email marketing simply means that you are marketing your product or service through email just like the name implies. The business owner will set up something on their site where recipients sign up to receive emails. Generally speaking it’s in the form of a newsletter. These emails the business owner will use to promote their business in some form.
The problem with email marketing is that you need the recipients to not only read these emails but to turn into a customer once they learn about your promotion. It’s not that it’s hard but it’s going to take some time on your part to make this a successful marketing tool.
Email marketing contains some obstacles but don’t let that steer you clear from doing it. As with most obstacles you can work through these.
The first one is managing the list. This can prove challenging if the business owner thinks they can do it on their own. Think about it – if you have to hand type every new recipient after they send you their information how would you ever have time for anything else?
People sign up so you’ll also find that people will also eventually want to unsubscribe. Just as it was mentioned above about hand entering info think about if you had to personally remove un-subscribers. It would be too time consuming.
So how can these two obstacles be avoided? It’s as simple as using an autoresponder. An autoresponder service will allow people to sign up and unsubscribe at any time. Another benefit to going this route is that an autoresponder helps get your emails delivered and not stuck in a spam filter.
The point of email marketing is to get the readers to open up, read it and then respond. So if readers aren’t reading these emails then there’s a problem. This can be avoided by creating attention getting subject lines that will make the reader want to open it.
Another common obstacle is that people think they won’t know what to write in the emails or they’ll run out of fresh ideas. You can help alleviate this problem by sitting down and writing out a list of answers to questions your readers may have about your product or service. Answer questions like what benefits does your product provide, etc.
If that doesn’t work or you still fear you’ll run out of ideas/topics then there is always the option to use a ghostwriter. And there is also PLR or private label rights content you can get your hands on.
Although it may seem like several obstacles to overcome, email marketing is worth the time and effort. It provides many different benefits and it’s affordable and a relationship builder tool as well.
